Now we're talkin'. Reebok unveils a shoe where you can make your own personal statement. |
Accommodating an ancient tradition of writing on your kicks, Reebok has come up with the ATR Talkin' Crazy - the first basketball shoe incorporating white board technology. These shoes allow you to customize your shoes with a message every game, or even every quarter if you like. All you need is a dry erase marker and you are in business. Although not the most technically proficient basketball shoe on the market this is an interesting way to go for Reebok. John Lynch, VP of US marketing for Reebok explains "For as long as there have been basketball kicks, people have been writing on them, but now the Talkin' Krazy gives consumers the freedom to express themselves in countless ways." This definitely speaks to the modern consumer who wants to be able to customize their products but will it actually move product out the door at Champs, their exclusive distributor for this product. Basketball is star driven to so it might if the right athletes are seen using the product. Maybe Reebok can get someone from its stable to trot them out for something like the NBA All-Star Game. I don't know if he will make it this year but I imagine that Allen Iverson might have something interesting to scribe were he so inclined. Win or lose many will give kudos to Reebok for thinking outside of the box on this one. Source: www.talkkrazy.com
